Hi. My parents named me Toby. Toby Knapp. And in my life - and career - I've seen some things.
Stuff you wouldn't believe. Stuff I've been blessed to be a part of. I've had a front row seat at historical events, sat center stage at amazing cultural events and I've even met a couple Presidents, a couple Vice Presidents... and Taylor Swift's mom.
But never in my life have I seen anything like the joy I got to see in different faces... and from different families... on Mother's Day.
You may have heard... we went to spend time on Mother's Day morning at area hospitals, where we delivered lil' bouquets of floral goodness to new moms... and some veteran moms welcoming another new lil' bundle of joy to their families.
Talk about joy.
Sure, there might have been utter exhaustion going on... but the joy radiates. Sure, there is so much that is changing moment by moment when a newborn comes... but that joy... permeates. In the chaos of the medical experience which comes along with childbirth, there was this peace, powered by that same joy... which just found a way to radiate... from the smile of a mom holding baby number FOUR as dad, her high school sweetheart, looked on... to the smile and look of wonder in the eyes of a new mom, watching as dad holds their new baby, born into a world full of dreams to a young couple from China. One couple, set to leave the hospital in the coming hours to begin the adventure of parenthood... found a way to let that joy shine even with that lingering "what do we do now" thing which I sensed was floating around in the ethos of life.
It was amazing. NBC's cameras were there to capture these moments and it was just... so special.
