FIRST OFF... about these OSCARS...

This morning's Oscar nominations marked a couple of firsts.

Black Panther became the first comic-based film to be nominated for Best Picture. But Ryan Coogler did not get a Best Director nod. The movie also got nominations for Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Original Score and Best Original Song.

Alfonso Cuaron's Roma nabbed Netflix its first Best Picture nomination. Among its other nods are Cuaron for Best Director and Yalitza Aparicio for Best Actress. Roma is tied for the most nominations overall, with 10. Since 2014 and including this morning, Netflix has gotten 14 nominations and two wins.

The Favourite also got 10 nods, including Best Picture, Best Director for Yorgos Lanthimos, Best Actress for Olivia Colman and Best Supporting Actress for Emma Stone.

Spike Lee got his first Best Director nomination, for BlacKkKlansman.

We'd be remiss if we didn't point out that A Star Is Born and Bohemian Rhapsody are big favorites this morning. Both are up for Best Picture. Lady Gaga is up for Best Actress and Bradley Cooper is up for Best Actor for their turns in A Star Is Born. Gaga could also pull in a Best Original Song trophy with her co-writers on "Shallow." And Rami Malek is nominated for Best Actor for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury.

The Oscars air live on ABC on February 24th.

HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN: Parent Is Busted For Letting Elementary Age Child Drive To School!

Illinois police have a warrant for the arrest of a parent accused of letting their eleven-year-old child drive to school.

The 31-year-old parent is wanted for two counts of child endangerment and driving while suspended after staff members at the John J. Murphey school witnessed the child drive up to the student drop off point.

The child then got out of the vehicle with another nine-year-old child that had been in the back seat, while the parent got in the drivers seat and drove away.

The vehicle involved was reported stolen a few days later. No word on if the cops caught up with the parent yet.

PEOPLE ARE EDITING THE GENES OF BABIES... creating EDITED HUMAN BEINGS!

Another CRISPR Gene Edited Baby Is On The Way - The public debate about “editing” a baby’s genes is about to become louder thanks to a doctor that crossed boundaries.

A second woman is reportedly pregnant with a CRISPR gene-edited baby. Chinese authorities confirmed during their investigation into Professor He Jiankui that another couple was involved in the experiment. Both her and the twin girls from the first pregnancy will be put under medical observation.

This opens a huge can of worms for the medical community and the search for how He got away with it. Investigators say He forged ethical review papers and used unsafe technology to illegally edit genes in human embryos to pursue "personal fame."

Eight couples with HIV positive men and HIV negative women, were allegedly recruited for the project before some dropped out later on. The former professor lost his job and will be "dealt with seriously according to the law," state officials say.

MARRIED: Here are things married people wish they knew about their spouse before saying "I DO!"

It’s hard to know everything about a person, even if you’re about to marry them, and sometimes folks are shocked by the things they learn after saying their “I Dos.”

Well, a new thread on the anonymous Whisper app has folks sharing the things they wish they knew about their spouse before they got married, and while some are funny, many are sad and downright shocking.

Things people wish they knew about their spouse before getting married include:

  • “The biggest stab in the back is agreeing to start a family before we got married and now changing your mind.”
  • “That he’s been struggling with his sexuality since he was 11 and is actually gay.”
  • “I just found out my ex got a girl pregnant two months before we got married.”
  • “That she would change completely after kids and I’ll have to lose everything in order to have any meaningful happiness in my life.”
  • “That he has no idea what ‘romance’ means. I probably would have married him anyway. It just would have been nice to know.”
  • “How often he farts. Especially in his sleep. Our bedroom smells like someone died in there every morning.”
  • “I wish I had noticed that he when he brushes his teeth he spits all over the faucet. Disgusting.”
  • “She was raped as a girl and didn’t tell me before we got married. Years later it comes out.”
  • “My husband is asexual, I didn’t know this before we got married. I love him so much but I don’t know what I should do about it.”

DATING: Here are DATING MISTAKES to avoid from Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger!

Does your love life need some help? If you want to date better in 2019, it’s time to fix some of the classic mistakes we all make when dating. Not sure where to begin? That’s okay, the “Millionaire Matchmaker” herself, Patti Stanger, has this advice about what we’re doing wrong and how to fix it.

  • Keeping the wrong ones around - You don’t want to waste your time or anyone else’s time by spending it on someone who isn’t the one. "If he's not texting you (ghosting) or texting you just enough to keep you interested but not asking you out (breadcrumbing), it's simple enough," says Patti. "He's just not that into you, and it's your job to get the hell over it."
  • Rejecting rejection - If someone rejects you it means you’re not meant to end up together, so move on to better things waiting for you ahead.
  • Prioritizing a love interest over yourself - If someone’s not making space in their life or always making you come to them, Patti advises putting yourself first and holding your ground. “Losing yourself is far riskier than losing this stranger,” she warns.
  • Missing “Me time” - Wearing yourself down on the dating scene won’t help, so take a beat to refresh before heading back out. Taking time for you will only help.
  • Ignoring red flags - When you ignore deal breakers, you’re wasting time with someone who’s not worth your time to begin with. So Patti advises paying attention to red flags and when one pops up, be glad you found out early and get out fast.
  • Keeping unrealistic expectations - If your list of specific criteria limits you to meeting someone with a certain height, weight, income, and hair color, you might need to adjust a little because no one will ever fit. Instead Patti suggests dropping the list and focusing on how your love interest makes you feel.Source: PopSugar
